2008 arrived and the 2FBR team is ready for action. This season look for more Kart racing as Steven attempts to venture out to other tracks and series, but will continue to race with a class act, the I.M.A.

On January 05, only one 2FBR entry ventured to Charlotte Motorsports Park in Punta Gorda, FL. What a great night of racing at the fast little short track. In the Thunder Truck class the #34 of Curt Mays finished 4th.

The next I.M.A. kart sprint races at CCMP will be January 27th at CCMP. For thunder truck racing the next even at CCMP will be on Sunday January 20th.

The 2FBR Lineup for the Thunder Truck class at CCMP will be running a truck shy this season. James Ballard has moved to North Florida, but we’re hoping he still will get down south a race or two with the team. In as much the primary trucks being fielded for 2008 will be the #3 of Robert St. John, the #34 of Curt Mays, and the #9 of the Old Rookie, Ray Scott.

The #11 is being transferred to the Pryor brothers for Andy to get a truck in the field with this bunch of hard rubbing redneck racers. 2008 looks to be an interesting season for sure.

On January 20, 2008, Curt Mays  was the only 2FBR entry in the TT race at CCMP. A great start and was feeling real good until engine problems put him out of the race. The new season is scheduled to start on February 2nd, but we’ll just have to wait and see if we can get the engine repaired or another one in the #34 machine. As for the Scott ride, an appropriate transmission is still being sought.

A positive note for 2FBR was that Steven Mays started off the 2008 I.M.A. season at Charlotte in the #34 Cadet Kart running just as hard as last year. He finished 2nd for the day. We hope to get George “Poot” Mays racing in his kid kart very soon. Little Jacob is also about ready to give his kid kart a go. Really coming on string! Plans are for ventures out a little farther from CCMP, for the experience for the boys. Keep a look out for em!

February 23rd saw Ray Scott as the lone 2FBR entry in the Thunder Truck event at Charlotte. Ray ran the #9 Tires Plus/Sonic Chevy to a 5th place finish.

The Karts ran both 02/23/08 and 02/24/08.

The International Motorsports Academy moved it’s full operation to the Sebring International Raceway, and Saturday the 23rd was a great day to race. Steven Mays finished 3rd for the day in the Arcadia Pawn/Fanciwork Cadet Kart.

On Sunday 02/24/08 it was to Charlotte County Motorsports Park for their first Kart race. The staff did a good job and provided a safe and family environment for some great Kart racing. Steven Mays earned a 1st place finish for the day at Charlotte.

In getting to the track with the Kart you can’t miss us now. A special thanks goes out to Arcadia Pawn and DeSoto Sign for an awesome trailer. You certainly will notice us on the roadway.

In Thunder Truck news, we’ve began to get ready to start the new #3 truck which will be driven by Robert St. John. It’s a 90’s style Chevy and the setup should make it very competitive. As for the #34 of Curt Mays, a new Shawn Reim motor is now being setup.

As always if we’re racing we’re smiling, No matter if we load up by wrecker or find ourselves in the winner’s circle, a day at the race track beats anything we can think of.

A little behind in updating the news, but we’ve had a pretty reasonable schedule with the Karts. Steven is running well and looking forward to continued success at Charlotte and with the I.M.A. in Sebring. Current plans include a run at Ocala and finally making it down to Immokalee.

The next schedule race at CCMP for the Kart’s is 04/04/2008 although we’ll have to bow out due to other commitments. But we’ll be back at Charlotte on 04/20/08 and then be at Sebring on 04/26/08.

Saturday night 03/29/08 was a large time for Kid and Cadet Karts. They ran an exhibition race before the stock car races at CCMP. The staff at the track really made the kart racers feel welcome. The kids had a great time during a meet and great along with the late model racers. We thank the track, the fans, and other race divisions for welcoming us!

In thunder truck racing it was a good night for Ray Scott on 03/29/08 at CCMP. He finished third for the night after several DQs (vacuum) in front of him. The #34 was back and had some great horse power thanks to the new Ream’s engine. Handling was back too, after several late nights by 2FBR crew chief/mechanic, Robert St. John. Unfortunately after tying up twice with the “old rookie” (Ray Scott) the #34 wound up on the back of the wrecker with tranny issues. Still it was a great night to be at the track with some fine racing in all divisions. We’ll be back out with the trucks on April 5th at CCMP.

Since the last update the only consistent racers in the 2FBR group has been Old Ray Scott. Steven Mays has only missed one race thus far at CCMP.

April 18th saw two 2FBR entries at CCMP for thunder truck racing. Robert St. John drove the #34 and Ray Scott his 9 truck. St. John finished 9th and Scott 6th.

Steven Mays is set for a back to back weekend for April 26th and 27th. He’ll run at Sebring with the IMA on the 26th and at CCMP on the 27th.

In other news, the new #3 truck of Robert St.John is finally starting to take shape. In addition, we are talking about building an Outlaw Street Stock.

Speaking of the Suncoast Outlaw Street Stocks, Loozer Motorsports got Fat! This weekend 04/19/08 the 00 driven by Ricky Bullard will be powered by a 2FBR motor St.John put together. Get out and cheer em on!

April 26th & 27th were busy days for Steven Mays in the #34 Kart. He ran with the IMA at Sebring on the 26th with a 4th place finish for the day. Then on Sunday it was down to CCMP for a little more racing, finishing the day 2nd. .

The trucks are scheduled for a run on Saturday the May 3rd at CCMP. We’re tentative at this time on the #34 truck, do to some drive train repairs. As for the #3 truck, it’s coming along, but a month or so away from completion. The #9 of Ray Scott should be racing for sure.

If you can’t make it to the track on Saturday this week, there’s Kart racing both on Friday night and Sunday at CCMP. We’re going to try for sure on Sunday, and will just have to wait and see for Friday.

May 2nd we took off from the CCMP Karts with plans to run on Sunday the 4th. Unfortunately the 4th date was cancelled, but a weekend needed to catch up.

On Saturday May 3rd the only 2FBR entry at CCMP in the Thunder Trucks was Robert St. John. He drove to a 4th place finish, and put on quite the show for the fans that stuck around for the last race of the night.

Saturday May 10th look for 2FBR Ray Scott to be back out in the #9 Sonic/Tires Plus Chevy. He’s put quite the amount of work into the truck over the last couple of weeks and we wish him great luck.

Curt Mays is planning on getting the #34 Fanciwork truck back in shape during the coming week for a run on May 17th at CCMP.

May 16th and 17th was back to back races for the cadet kart of Steven Mays. Steven ran the 16th under the lights at Charlotte Co Motorsports Park with a 3rd place finish in a mix of karts.

Then on Saturday the 17th he ran at Sebring International Speedway with the IMA. A large group of cadet karts were on hand an Steven was doing well until a spin of the track, taking out the sprocket during the feature race.

Steven handled the DNF in stride, kind of like his ability to make his way into the Highlands Today. If you want to check out the story click on the following link:

We’ll be back out again on Friday night the 23rd at Charlotte for more Kart Racing. Thunder Truck driver Tom Pryor (the CCMP kart tech man) and Andy of the Pro4’s have about got Curt Mays convinced to try out one of their karts. Kind of like thunder truck racing, you just never know.

In thunder trucking, Ray Scott drove the #34 2FBR truck Saturday night the 17th to a 5th place finish. Hope to have Curt Mays back in the seat on the 24th and have Scott’s #9 back ready to go after an engine replacement.

Thunder trucking in late May and June hasn’t been so good for the 2FBR crew. Time and other outside issues has slowed the racing a bit, but we’re looking to get the trucks back to the track for the June 21st weekend.

In Kart racing Steven will be back out at CCMP on June 20th.

July has been like May and June for the 2FBR Thunder Trucks. Old Ray Scott has been active, but not seemingly up to par in the division. Of course it’s been a low truck count at CCMP, as we think the economy is taking it’s toll on a lot of good racers. This week we hope to get the #34 straightened out (springs, bushings, and the list goes on) for the next race at CCMP scheduled for August 2nd. Additionally the plan is to get the #3 back together and make August the start of a great 2nd half of the year for the 2FBR crew.

Not all has been bad with 2FBR, the cadet kart has been doing very well with 1st and 2nd place finishes in the last few weeks at CCMP. Steven Mays is currently sitting in the lead for the points chase in the division to boot. An awesome job by an awesome driver. His next race is set for July 18th at Charlotte County Motorsports Park.

Speaking of Steven, he gave his first try at internet radio on July 11th. The 2FBR crew was very proud of the way the 10yoa handled himself. Weather or not he goes pro one day, he is certainly gaining some valuable tools for life through racing. You can find the interview at Full Throttle Friday or hit up Scott and Robert at

With mid August on us, we’re still smiling! Steven Mays is still doing well in the #34 Arcadia Pawn/Fanciwork Cadet Kart. As it stands now he his 1st in points in his class at Charlotte Co Motorsports Park and 2nd in his class with the I.M.A. Looks like we’ll start running in the WKA events around the state of Florida in 2009. He certainly seems to be ready.

In the stock truck racing, time hasn’t afforded us much of a chance to get to the track. With parts on the shelf, we just haven’t been able to get to work on the old #3 truck or the #34 truck. With car counts down, we apologize to our class for not getting out to support them. Hopefully in a few weeks.

Also we are talking about an adding an additional class to the 2FBR group. At this time we’re talking with one of the primary sponsors about such a venture, and will let y’all know what works out.

With temperatures cooling, the 2FBR kart is certainly doing well. As for the Thunder Trucks, with the exception of the Ole Rookie Ray Scott, very little racing has been done in the heat. Hopefully time will afford us the chance to get all three trucks back out at CCMP by mid October.  We certainly miss racing and the class has dwindled over the summer and prospects aren’t looking good to keep the class. Be sure to let the folks at CCMP know your love and support of Thunder Trucking, redneck racing at it’s best.

To all the kart family, we look forward to another great time at all the tracks with y’all in 08/09. To Greg and the crew att CCMP, we just say thanks for your dedication to the fans, racers and family!

With Steven doing well, it’s time to venture out to some of the WKA sanctioned events in the State to see how he does. We wish Steven all the luck and can’t thank his sponsors enough.

November is here and winter is around the corner. There’s not much news from the thunder truck class of 2FBR, seems we keep getting a little farther behind, in getting the old redneck trucks back on the track. Time and the economy has played it’s part, but we’ll be back running soon.

In kart news, we have to give a big at-a-boy to Steven Mays. He finished his summer points season at Charlotte County Motorsports Park in 1st place for his division. What a great time he seems to be having. Another points champion win; who knows where his future will go?

Y’all get out and see us!!

Keep smiling and Keep Racing,
